Missy Briody is a State of New Jersey licensed occupational therapist and is registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. She is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, New Jersey Occupational Therapy Association, and the American Society of Hand Therapists. Missy received a BA from Rutgers University, and in 1996 she received a post baccalaureate certificate in Occupational Therapy from Kean University. In 2012, Missy received an MS from Seton Hall University’s Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences where she completed her thesis on handwriting development, assessment, and intervention. After completing an in-depth study of the hand and upper limb, Missy passed the Hand Therapy Certification Commission’s examination (CHT) in May 2019. She has experience in a variety of settings including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, hand therapy, and school-based therapy. Since 2002, she has practiced at Pediatric Therapeutics, specializing in the pediatric population and sensory integration techniques. She has completed the Comprehensive Program in Sensory Integration and is Sensory Integration and Praxis Test certified (SIPT). In 2012, Missy completed the SPD Foundation’s Advanced Intensive Mentorship Level I program for diagnosing and treating sensory processing disorders. Missy is also a certified provider of The Listening Program (TLP). In addition, she co-runs the Zones of Regulation Group and the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) feeding group for picky eaters. In her spare time she likes to ski, hike, cycle, and spend time with her family and friends.
